Steve Bannon said on Thursday’s WarRoom that he believes the key to victory lies in mobilizing low-propensity voters—those who don’t always show up at the polls but could be decisive. Using what he calls "match play” strategy, Bannon emphasizes that each vote carries strategic weight. To him, it’s about winning targeted rounds of influence and control, not just a popular vote. With this mindset, he urges values-driven voters to see their role as essential in an outcome he considers critical for preserving traditional American values.

"For next Tuesday, if you’re able, start early voting and take some of the pressure off Election Day. We need a huge mobilization, especially in states like Pennsylvania and Arizona. The more people who can get out and vote now in early voting, the more capacity we’ll have on Election Day to drive this effort forward. There’s a lot happening with get-out-the-vote operations, and every early vote makes a difference,” Bannon said on Thursday. 

Match Play vs. Stroke Play: What’s the Difference?

In his Thursday remarks, Bannon explained his "match play” analogy to emphasize focused strategy over sheer numbers. Borrowing from golf, where “match play” is about winning specific rounds instead of the total strokes, Bannon noted: “This is not a popularity contest. It’s about securing wins where it counts.” For the MAGA movement, that means mobilizing enough voters in each critical area to secure decisive, localized victories. Bannon’s message: "It’s the match-ups that matter. The goal is to hit 270 electoral votes, not just win the popular vote.”

Low-Propensity Voters Are Key

Bannon’s appeal is directed at "low-propensity voters”—those who may not vote regularly or don’t always see a personal stake in politics. For Bannon, these voters are often guided by values over party, and he urges them to "show up and vote your conscience.” He points to key areas like Arizona and Pennsylvania, where small changes in turnout could be pivotal. He called this a "mass mobilization for representation” and stressed that low-propensity voters hold the power to counter what he considers attempts to delegitimize the MAGA movement’s influence.

Values-Driven Voting: A Moral Imperative

Throughout his speech, Bannon framed voting as a values-based, even spiritual act. He called for "the Christian turnout” as a deciding factor, urging faith-based communities to engage actively. "It’s a command. It’s about voting for values, for economic stability, for cultural preservation,” he said, positioning the act of voting as a moral imperative for those who identify with the movement’s aims. He criticized what he sees as moral and cultural decay, calling for "100 million” Christian voters to show up as a "divine mandate” in their communities.

“Victory Begins the Mission, It Doesn’t End There”

Bannon made it clear that he sees this election as the beginning of a larger mission, not an endpoint. "Remember, November 5th—it doesn’t end there. It begins there,” he said, urging his audience to think of their votes as a launch point for more significant societal change. He called this the "end of the beginning,” a crucial step in a much longer process to reclaim and stabilize what he sees as American foundational values.

The Battle Ahead

Bannon’s final message was to push forward regardless of obstacles. "We cannot lose focus on the purpose,” he said, emphasizing the importance of staying engaged beyond election day. He views the "mass mobilization” effort as the groundwork for a lasting impact, stressing, "The energy and spirit of this movement is material; it’s palpable. We must execute, and we must not deter.”

For Bannon, it’s a “match play” to reclaim values, re-engage low-propensity voters, and make an enduring impact on America’s political landscape.
