Wisconsin GOP Chair Brian Schimming sees rising momentum akin to Trump’s 2016 victory. He stresses key swing state focus, voter engagement, and robust election oversight. He calls the 2024 election a pivotal moment to “save the country.”

Momentum Mirrors 2016

Brian Schimming, chair of the Wisconsin GOP, joined Dave Brat on Thursday’s WarRoom and said he sensed a revival of 2016’s excitement. “It feels more like 2016 than it does 2020,” he noted, attributing this energy to strong support at local events. After attending five cities over the weekend, Schimming reported, "The energy level is incredible out there.” He is confident that victory is within reach if the campaign’s message resonates.

Focus on Seven Swing States

Schimming emphasized the strategic importance of focusing on seven key states, including Wisconsin. "This is not about 50 states,” he said, stressing that "seven states… will decide” the 2024 outcome. He urged Republicans to engage voters directly rather than wait for them: "We can’t assume people are going to come to us.” Schimming highlighted North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada as equally critical battlegrounds.

Early Voting and Election Integrity

The Wisconsin GOP has adopted a pragmatic stance on early voting, a shift from past hesitations. "It’s not that I love early voting, but it’s a tool in the toolbox, and we ought to use it,” Schimming said. He underscored that Wisconsin’s strong election integrity unit—one of the largest in the nation—monitors early voting closely, with over 6,000 poll workers and thousands of ballot watchers recruited.

Combating Voting Irregularities

Schimming acknowledged ongoing concerns in cities led by Democratic mayors, particularly Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay. He laid out a three-step plan to address election issues: cooperation with local clerks, addressing discrepancies, and taking legal action when necessary. "If they won’t correct it, we will haul them into court,” he warned. Schimming’s focus is on ensuring fair elections without alienating local officials unnecessarily.

Closing Call to Action: “Save the Country”

Schimming’s final message was clear and urgent: the stakes are high. "This is about saving the country,” he declared, urging participation in the election. He directed supporters to the Wisconsin GOP’s website and encouraged following him on social media for updates. Schimming sees not only a chance for a presidential victory but also an opportunity to unseat Wisconsin’s Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. "We could have a heck of a night in Wisconsin,” he concluded confidently.

Voter Engagement Remains a Priority

Schimming repeatedly stressed the need for direct engagement with voters. "Door pounding” and meaningful conversations are at the heart of the GOP strategy. He criticized Vice President Kamala Harris’s focus on the future as an evasion of Biden’s track record, insisting that a critical look at the recent past will secure a Republican win: "If she talks about how she and Joe Biden broke this country… we win the election.”

Election Oversight Key to Success

With Wisconsin’s significant election integrity infrastructure, Schimming is determined to keep the voting process transparent. "We have to marry voting early with election integrity,” he said. He highlighted the importance of closely monitoring absentee ballots and collaborating with election officials while remaining vigilant against any rule-breaking.

Looking Forward to 2024

Wisconsin remains a crucial battleground, and Schimming’s leadership reflects a focused, determined effort to sway the state in favor of the GOP. His emphasis on voter engagement, election integrity, and early voting signals a comprehensive approach to winning in 2024. The sentiment on the ground, as he describes it, mirrors the energy of a previous victorious campaign—a factor he believes will make the difference next year.
