Summary: Col. Harvey Calls for Radical Reform in U.S. Intelligence Agencies
In a crucial Thursday WarRoom discussion with Steve Bannon, Col. Derrek Harvey exposed serious flaws within U.S. intelligence agencies, highlighting that the FBI and CIA have been focusing on the wrong targets. According to Harvey, these agencies have been misled by political agendas and have failed to address real threats to national security. Harvey’s call for leadership changes and a shift in priorities could reshape how the U.S. responds to emerging threats. Here’s a breakdown of what needs to be done.
Intelligence Agencies Have Lost Focus
Bannon added that the FBI and intelligence community have spent too much time focusing on domestic political groups like MAGA supporters while ignoring more pressing dangers. "They think the MAGA base is the problem,” he told Harvey, "a collection of radicalized white nationalists.” He points out that this focus is misguided, especially when there are sophisticated networks, such as those supported by the Muslim Brotherhood, that pose a far more dangerous threat.
"The FBI and IC have been focused on the wrong targets,” Bannon continued. Instead of addressing the influence of organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood, which Qatar and other entities finance, the agencies have been "focused on radicalizing the wrong people.” These foreign groups, Harvey then explained, are using U.S. mosques and Islamic institutions to indoctrinate people to hate America and its Constitution.
Leadership Must Be Held Accountable
Harvey is adamant that the intelligence community’s leadership needs to be held accountable. He makes the case that many of the top officials have shown incompetence, pointing to past failures like the Russia hoax. "Why would you continue people who have not been competent?” he asks, stressing the importance of finding leaders who understand institutions but are not afraid to reform them.
"We need people who are going to go in there and take risks to fight for the changes,” Harvey urges. This includes reforming both the FBI and CIA to ensure they follow the law and executive orders. According to Harvey, leaders who don’t follow the law or obstruct reform need to be replaced.
Detailees Must Be Screened and Reduced
Harvey also calls for a review of detailees, those personnel temporarily assigned to the intelligence agencies. He argues that there are currently too many, many of whom were brought in during the Obama administration. "We don’t need as many detailees as they have now,” Harvey says. Instead of allowing them to continue in their roles, Harvey suggests sending a letter to these detailees, instructing them not to report for duty on January 20th.
"The new leadership should screen and recruit the detailees that are needed,” he says, ensuring only those who align with the new administration’s priorities are brought on board. This move would prevent any lingering opposition from the previous administration’s appointees, creating a more aligned and competent team.
What Needs to Happen Now
As Harvey points out, the U.S. intelligence agencies have failed to focus on the real threats to national security. The leadership at the FBI and CIA must be overhauled to bring in people committed to enforcing the law and reforming these agencies. Additionally, the details must be screened and reduced to ensure that only those who align with the new priorities are in place.
The situation is urgent, and immediate action is needed to address these failures before they lead to more severe consequences for national security.
