Jason Miller, host of Monday’s WarRoom, sharply criticized the Biden administration for its handling of the U.S.-Mexico border, accusing it of facilitating a surge in cartel prosperity and betraying American citizens.
"The cartels are making billions of dollars because the federal government has failed to do its job,” Miller stated. "Under President Trump, these problems were under control, but now the cartels are running rampant, causing severe damage to both Mexico and the United States.”
During a discussion with Paul Perez, President of the National Border Patrol Council, Miller highlighted the dire consequences of current border policies, particularly the rampant growth of Mexican drug cartels under the current administration.
Miller emphasized that the chaos at the border has led to unprecedented gains for cartels. He argued that the Biden administration’s policies have effectively handed control of large swathes of the border to these criminal organizations.
Perez corroborated Miller’s claims with firsthand observations from his recent visit to the Arizona-Mexico border. Perez described a troubling scenario where advanced surveillance technology, including helicopters and drones, was employed to monitor cartel activities. Despite these efforts, he noted that the situation remains chaotic and dangerous.
"We were in cartel-controlled areas,” Perez explained. "These areas are no longer under the jurisdiction of U.S. or Mexican authorities but are effectively controlled by the cartels.”
A critical issue highlighted by Perez was the problem of "gotaways,” individuals who manage to evade capture by border enforcement. "We have had nearly two million known gotaways,” he said.
"These are individuals actively avoiding detection, and they pose a significant threat to national security.” Perez stressed that the true danger lies not just with those who are apprehended, but with those who successfully evade capture and enter the country undetected. He pointed out that these gotaways include potential criminals and gang members, which exacerbates the risk to American communities.
Miller and Perez’s discussion echoes a sense of betrayal felt by many Americans who are suffering due to the perceived mismanagement of border issues. Miller condemned the Biden administration’s approach as one that prioritizes leniency over security, thereby neglecting the safety and well-being of American citizens. "The administration’s policies have created an open invitation for illegal immigration and cartel activities, which have led to a surge in crime and instability,” he argued.
"Meanwhile, the American people are left to deal with the fallout, including increased crime and economic hardship.”
Perez emphasized that the administration’s failure to address the root causes of border chaos and cartel dominance represents a significant betrayal of American interests.
"We need to return to effective border management policies,” Perez said. "Reinstating the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy would be a crucial step in reversing the damage and ensuring that the asylum system is reformed to protect American communities.”

This is excellent coverage but the WarRoom needs deeper investigation into the situation in Mexico with the cartels. Americans need to understand that these cartels are not only fighting us and the Mexican government but they have carved out territories for themselves in Mexico and they are fighting each other for control of these territories. There are maps on the internet but these are all 5 years old or older – they are constantly changing just like the people at the tops of these cartels are changing. There is no doubt in my mind that leaders at the top of these cartels are in fact proxies for foreign actors, Venezuela, Cuba, Russia, China, even North Korea.Right now, American voters cannot know too much about these cartels and WarRoom is the perfect place for them to become more informed and this is the perfect time for that process to begin
