Why Judicial Watch Is Doing the Government’s Job
STEVE BANNON (HOST): The great Tom Fitton joins me now from Judicial Watch. Tom, I think you and Judicial Watch have cleared out the voter rolls in this country of five million names that shouldn’t be there. You’ve had almost a million in Oregon. Can you walk through exactly the work? And please explain to the audience why you and Judicial Watch, which is the People’s Justice Department, why you guys are having to do this and raise the money from the WarRoom Posse and your followers. Why isn’t this done by either the state or federal government? Five million names you’ve cleared out of these voter rolls. Why is this not done by a government entity? Why does it have to be you and the guys at Judicial Watch? Your team has more than enough to do. Why are you doing this, sir?
TOM FITTON: Because, as you pointed out, the Justice Department hasn’t been doing it. They’ve begun kind of looking at the issue under this administration with Harmeet Dhillon. But in the meantime, we’ve already got active lawsuits under the National Voter Registration Act. People know that as the motor voter bill. The left pushed that through. They wanted to register everyone to vote when they went for their driver’s licenses or got their welfare checks. Their sop to the conservatives was, oh, don’t worry, we’ll clean up the rolls every once in a while.
Well, guess what happened. They didn’t clean up the rolls. So we became the first private group to start suing over this many years ago, and we haven’t stopped. Five million names. One point two million names cleaned up from Los Angeles County. Almost a million names from New York City. That was a settlement. We sued, they cleaned up the names almost immediately. Over 130,000 names here in Washington, D.C. Five million nationally.
But there are 24 million dirty names on the rolls, as best I can tell. We have new lawsuits in California, Illinois, and Oregon. Just this weekend, the secretary of Oregon, after we filed our lawsuit in 2024, finally said, hey, look, we’ve got 800,000 names we need to remove. So now what was five million looks like it’s going to be nearly six million thanks to our heavy lifting. He admitted we really haven’t cleaned up the rolls since 2017.
People all over the country, Steve, you know this. You talk to them. They know exactly what I’m talking about. They get ballot information and ballots for people who don’t live at their home anymore. People who moved away. Children and grandchildren who moved years ago. They can’t get their names taken off the list. The law requires the names be cleaned up. They don’t want to take the reasonable steps to do it. We have to go into court and force it. We’ve been the only entity to do it with any marked success in the history of the country to date.
STEVE BANNON (HOST): No, the reason they need those names on there for the mail in ballots is the way they steal elections. That’s why they won’t do it. But I don’t understand, Tom. You guys are busier now. I’ve known you for over a decade. You’re the guys that took on Obama and his Justice Department. You were on Breitbart Radio with me every other day. This is the Trump administration. This is the Trump DOJ. Why are you so busy, sir?
TOM FITTON: On this issue, the Trump DOJ is trying to follow our lead. As you know, Harmeet has been suing states trying to get voter roll data to gain access to information so they can try to get the rolls cleaned. I’d advise them to join our lawsuits. Why not? Just get the names removed almost immediately.
But on a whole host of other issues, the Justice Department is AWOL. Especially on the Freedom of Information Act and disclosing information about abuses, not only at the Justice Department and FBI, but basically covering up everything you’re worried the deep state is hiding. We’re in court and you’ve got Justice Department lawyers defending secrecy.
Imagine going to court and asking for Hunter Biden material and being told by Trump Justice Department attorneys that you can’t have it because they want to protect Hunter’s privacy. Or you go to the CIA and ask for records about what CIA teams were doing at the Capitol on January 6, and DOJ attorneys tell you they need four years to search for records.
Unless you’ve got appointees and the people they supervise who are committed to transparency and understand they’ve got to uncover the bodies, we’re just going to keep fighting. We’re fighting them on Jack Smith documents. We’re fighting them on records you wouldn’t believe. They’ve given us a few records here and there, but frankly, so did the Biden administration. Don’t do us any favors. Give us the records we’re due under law. They tried to destroy the Republic just a year ago, and you’re still hiding what they did.
STEVE BANNON (HOST): Insane. Tom, where do people go to support Judicial Watch?
TOM FITTON: Trying to save our elections from being destroyed. Go to judicialwatch.org. We’ve got a Supreme Court case that could overturn 19 state rules that allow the counting of ballots that arrive after Election Day. They’re going to hear it later this year. If you’re interested in trying to save the Republic and supporting a watchdog group that actually sues over the issues you care about, support Judicial Watch.
STEVE BANNON (HOST): Judicial Watch is the best, and Tom Fitton is the best of the best. I’ve known him for 10 or 15 years. Incredible. Go with God, sir. Godspeed.
