Sheriff Mack explained on WarRoom that sheriffs have unparalleled knowledge of their counties, making them essential to fair and effective law enforcement. "The sheriffs know the counties. They know where these people are,” Mack said. He argued that sanctuary cities undermine public safety, enabling cartels and other criminals to operate unchecked.

Instead of relying on federal agencies or military intervention, Sheriff Mack suggested that local law enforcement, led by sheriffs, can manage deportations humanely and efficiently. "We need sheriffs participating. It’ll make it safer and more successful,” he added.

Sanctuary Cities vs. Constitutional Authority

Sanctuary cities like Chicago, Denver, and Phoenix refuse to enforce federal deportation orders. However, Sheriff Mack highlighted that mayors cannot override sheriffs. "The sheriff has county-wide authority—it goes through the cities,” Mack asserted, referencing a landmark Supreme Court decision that confirmed sheriffs’ constitutional powers.

Sheriffs can act decisively to restore law and order in their jurisdictions. "Sanctuary cities are aiding and abetting cartels and criminals,” Mack warned, emphasizing the need for sheriffs to uphold their mandate from voters.

How Sheriffs Can Address Deportations

Mack agreed with host Steve Bannon that local facilities, not military bases, should be used for holding individuals awaiting deportation. "The military should secure the border, but sheriffs know who belongs in the community and who doesn’t,” Mack said.
