SitRep: The Silicon Flex, Why Chips Are the Frontline of the New Cold War-Your Guide to Action

On Friday’s WarRoom interview with Congressman Jim Banks, Banks highlighted a critical bill that needs people’s attention. On Saturday, Steve Bannon expanded on the issue with new urgency, pulling in Oren Cass to make clear that this isn’t just legislation, but the frontline of the new Cold War with the Chinese Communist Party.

Banks’ Friday appearance cut through the fog. He laid out the heart of the fight: U.S.-made chips—the backbone of AI, defense systems, and future tech—must not be handed over to the CCP. The bill he’s backing demands that American companies, not Chinese buyers, get priority. No more corporate shell games where Nvidia or Intel ship advanced chips to Shanghai under the guise of "civilian use,” knowing full well they’ll be weaponized against America’s industries and national security. As Banks put it, there’s nothing more America First than locking down our technological future.

Quick Clip:

BANNON: Isn't it time for a hard decoupling from the CCP?

SENATOR BANKS: Absolutely. If America cuts off China’s access to our markets and technology, they collapse. That's why companies like NVIDIA cozying up to Beijing while undermining us in AI is absurd.@SenatorBanks pic.twitter.com/7kyEy9o7EY

That set the stage for Saturday’s WarRoom, where Bannon expanded the frame with Oren Cass. Here’s where the flex comes in: it’s not just about one bill—it’s about whether America can break the addiction to corporate profits that built Beijing into a superpower. Bannon called out the Silicon Valley "tech bros” and the Financial Times crowd for what they are: enablers of a CCP rise financed and engineered by American capital, American technology, and American naivety.

Oren Cass, who has long argued for what he now calls a "hard break” with China, nailed down the point. Decoupling isn’t enough. Twenty years of promises that "trade will liberalize China” have only handed them leverage over our supply chains and a front-row seat to our technological crown jewels. Cass warned that companies like Nvidia lobbying to sell chips into China aren’t just chasing sales—they’re selling out American power for short-term gains.

  • Book: The New Conservatives (lays out the ideas behind the America First, post-fusionist conservative movement)

Bannon’s prescription was blunt: zero chips, zero technology, zero expertise, zero visas. He called for canceling the 350,000 Chinese student visas that funnel talent straight into CCP pipelines, shutting down U.S. capital flows to Chinese tech, and ending the fiction that there’s a "safe” version of technology to export. His message: America either organizes around total tech sovereignty or watches Beijing surpass us in the very tools that will decide the next century.

Why does this matter? Because as Bannon frames it, this is the ultimate stress test of President Trump’s second term. Will America First mean siding with workers, innovators, and national security—or caving to the corporatists who’ve been selling us out since the early 2000s? This isn’t theoretical. The bill Banks is fighting for is live, and as he warned Friday, attempts to strip out the protections for U.S. chip priority will come fast and hard. If the grassroots aren’t engaged, the lobbyists win.

Call to Action:

Watch the Friday interview with Jim Banks to understand the bill’s stakes and where pressure is needed.

Contact your representatives now. The fight over chip exports will be decided on the floor, and both parties need to hear that this is non-negotiable.

Organize locally. Tech sovereignty is not abstract; it touches jobs, schools, and security. Educate your communities on why selling chips to China is the equivalent of handing your enemy the keys to the future.

🚨 America First Field Kit: The Chip War Edition

1. Watch & Share the Source

  • ✅ Friday WarRoom interview with Rep. Jim Banks → understand the bill’s stakes and share the link widely.

  • ✅ Clip the key points for friends, church groups, and local GOP clubs.

2. Pressure Your Representatives

  • Call, email, and visit your congressional offices. Demand:

    • U.S. companies get chip priority.

    • No exports to China—period.

    • Protect national security over corporate profit.

  • Ask your rep directly: "Are you siding with American workers or Nvidia’s lobbyists?”

3. Organize Locally

  • Host a teach-in on tech sovereignty—tie it to jobs, schools, and national security.

  • Get school boards, chambers of commerce, and veterans’ groups talking about why chips equal security.

4. Cut Through Corporate Spin

  • When media says "only low-grade chips are going to China,” counter with: If they’re so harmless, why is Beijing desperate for them?

5. Build the Narrative

  • Frame this as the flex Bannon laid out: America First means hard break, not soft decoupling.

  • Remind your network: President Trump can only deliver if the grassroots has his back.

The flex Bannon and Cass laid down this weekend is crystal clear: America First means cutting China off cold, not managing decline. The bill on the floor is the test. The grassroots response will decide if President Trump has the wind at his back—or if Silicon Valley writes the rules once again.
