Steve Bannon vs. Silicon Valley: The Gloves Are Off in the H-1B Visa Battle
Steve Bannon is not backing down. On Saturday, he unleashed a fiery broadside against what he calls the "H-1B visa scam.” With his trademark intensity, Bannon painted the program as a plot by Wall Street elites and Silicon Valley oligarchs to profit at the expense of American workers.
"This is a total scam,” Bannon declared. "A contempt for America and its citizens. We won’t tolerate it anymore.”
Bannon’s anger isn’t new. For over a decade, he’s targeted the H-1B Visa system, accusing it of exploiting foreign workers and undermining American professionals. But this weekend, the debate exploded into something even bigger—thanks to Elon Musk.
Bannon: Let me repeat: the H1B visa program is a total and complete scam, concocted by Wall Street’s lords of easy money and Silicon Valley oligarchs to boost profits. But today, there’s a darker element—a contempt for America and its citizens—and we’re not going to tolerate it.… pic.twitter.com/K1OYNOsUDg

Musk’s Nuclear Meltdown
The chaos started with a social media post. Musk liked a comment claiming Americans were too "retarded” to fill tech jobs. Cue the firestorm. Critics slammed Musk for endorsing what they saw as elitist disdain for American talent.
Bannon, never one to miss an opportunity to slam his opponents, jumped in. He dismissed Musk as a "toddler” and accused the tech billionaire of being out of touch.
Musk, post dripping with hostility, he defended the H-1B program and lashed out at his critics:
"Take a big step back and F— YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”
This wasn’t just a comment; it was a declaration of war.
Musk (@elonmusk) has melted down. Here he tells a dissident X user to fvck himself in the face over the H-1B visa controversy. I can no longer find this post. Guess I'll lose my check mark over this post. pic.twitter.com/bNwjRwtT6d

Trump Adds Fuel to the Fire
Then came news that Donald Trump, the incoming president, surprised many by allegedly siding with Musk. Despite his previous stance against the H-1B program, Trump was cited by the left-leaning publication, which said Trumo called it "a great program,” and admitted he’d used it himself, according to the Guardian.
Bannon’s Decade-Long Fight
For Bannon, this isn’t just another issue. He sees it as a cornerstone of the populist-nationalist movement. For ten years, he’s been hammering away at the program, arguing it’s a betrayal of the American worker.
"The citizens of this country built the platform for these nerds to even exist,” Bannon thundered. "In the real world, they’d already be crushed.”
His rhetoric is harsh. His tone is uncompromising. And his message is clear: the H-1B program is a symbol of everything wrong with globalist policies.
A Divided Right
The fallout has been brutal. MAGA loyalists are torn between Bannon’s defiance and Trump’s surprising stance. Musk’s aggressive defense of the program has only deepened the divide.
Bannon isn’t flinching. "We’re going to win this,” he said confidently. "Honor this country. Honor its citizens. We’re done tolerating the exploitation.”
Love him or hate him, Steve Bannon is all-in on this fight. And with Elon Musk and Donald Trump in the mix, the battle over H-1B visas is just getting started.
