My passion for local and state politics has always driven my involvement, and for nearly five years, it’s been an honor to share that same spirit with the WarRoom Posse. Amid the busyness of life, it’s inspiring to be part of a group that truly understands how the power of individual action can drive change in our country. The more I get to know the Posse, the more impressed I am by their willingness to step up and make a difference in any way they can. That’s why I’m excited to write my first article, featuring a member of the WarRoom Posse and their unique journey in grassroots activism.
This month, WarRoom Posse Jody Steffen’s story exemplifies the transformative power of this type of engagement. Jody’s journey into grassroots activism began with her growing disillusionment with California’s political landscape. Initially hopeful with President Trump’s 2016 election, she became increasingly frustrated with the state’s direction, particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded.
“This country is in a crisis. And if you’re fighting to save this country, if you’re fighting to take this country back, it’s not going to be sunshine and patriots. It’s going to be people who want to fight” – Steve Bannon
Her turning point came in December 2020 after learning about the situation of Angela Marsden’s restaurant being shut down while a movie company was allowed to operate next door. Jody’s frustrations were further amplified by the drastic measures taken by the state government, leading her to support the recall effort against Governor Gavin Newsom.
With daily inspiration by Steve Bannon’s WarRoom and discovering the recall initiative through social media, she decided to take action. WarRoom’s commitment to truth and opposition to the Left’s daily lies and misrepresentations, further fueled her resolve.
Her activism began with volunteering at a signature collection event. This led to months of dedicated work, including organizing rallies, educating voters, and gathering signatures, primarily alongside other volunteers in Contra Costa County. Despite facing verbal abuse and threats from Democrats, Jody and her team maintained their focus, motivated by a strong sense of purpose and a shared belief in their mission. The effort, though ultimately unsuccessful in removing Newsom, forged deep connections among the other volunteers, many of whom became Jody’s closest friends.
After the recall effort, Jody continued her activism by joining Recallers for Freedom to combat medical tyranny. She participated in protests against vaccine mandates, attended rallies at the state capitol, and opposed controversial bills like AB2223, which sought to expand abortion to after birth.
Feeling increasingly oppressed by California’s political climate and concerned about rising crime in the San Francisco area, Jody decided to relocate in 2022. Her decision was driven by both personal and political factors, including her mother’s health issues and a desire to escape what she perceived as a deteriorating environment in California. After selling her long-time home, Jody decided to move to Arizona, settling in Congressman Andy Biggs’ district. There, she found a more favorable environment and the perfect opportunity to continue her activism.
In Arizona, Jody quickly immersed herself in local politics. She became a Precinct Committeeman, led her precinct, and actively participated in the state GOP convention. Her roles included being a Trump Force 47 Captain and a Church Captain for Believers for Trump. She also hosted training sessions at her home and engaged with local Republican Women Federated groups. Jody’s involvement reflects her ongoing commitment to grassroots activism and her belief in making a difference through direct action.
Jody’s story underscores the life-changing impact of grassroots activism and the personal sacrifices often involved. Her shift from a frustrated California resident to an active Arizona campaigner highlights the importance of taking action and staying engaged in political movements. Her journey serves as a reminder of the power of individual efforts in shaping political landscapes and the enduring value of activism in striving to influence change.
