Bannon and Burgess Blast Big Pharma’s Grip on Media and Politics

Steve Bannon and Rob Burgess of Americans for Pharma Reform exposed just how deep Big Pharma’s influence runs — from media networks to Capitol Hill — and how President Trump’s America First healthcare policies aim to break that chokehold.

Quick Clips:

With that cash flow, how could they ever be objective?@rkburgess pic.twitter.com/wSf2BCDajc

Bannon kicked things off by highlighting the absurdity of $18 billion spent annually by pharmaceutical companies just on advertising — advertising that, in most of the world, is illegal. That ad money, Burgess explained, isn’t just about selling drugs — it’s buying silence. Media giants like MSNBC and CNN rely on Big Pharma for over 30% of their ad revenue. Some flagship shows rake in even more. “Without Big Pharma, MSNBC would just be a test pattern,” Bannon quipped.

Burgess laid it out clearly: this isn’t a fringe anti-vax movement. Americans for Pharma Reform is backed by hospitals, grassroots donors, and everyday Americans sick of watching politicians dance for their pharma puppet masters. A recent poll showed 75% of Americans — regardless of party — would ditch any candidate who takes Big Pharma money.

And the situation is worse than most realize. Pharma ads are 100% tax-deductible, meaning companies like Pfizer are getting massive tax refunds on top of massive profits. Burgess called it "despicable” — and outlined the group’s three-point plan to fight back:

End the tax write-off loophole for direct-to-consumer pharma ads.

Impose a dollar-for-dollar fee on pharma ad spending, with that money going to Medicare and Medicaid.

Ban DTC pharma ads in their current form by building public pressure through petitions and town halls.

Americans for Pharma Reform is launching a nationwide "Bust Big Pharma” bus tour, kicking off in Las Cruces, NM. They’re holding town halls, building momentum, and amplifying President Trump’s long-standing fight to bring transparency and accountability to healthcare.

This is about ripping the mask off a system where media outlets get paid to ignore the damage, while politicians get funded to stay silent. Bannon praised the group’s efforts and promised to air their next ad exclusively.

For those ready to get involved, Burgess pointed listeners to bustbigpharma.com and their social handles @BustBigPharma across all platforms.
