Rep. Matt Rosendale of Montana talks to host Steve Bannon about why he voted against Rep. Kevin McCarthy for speaker of the House.
“What happened yesterday was the Republicans nominated their candidate to run for speaker. It takes 218 votes in order to be elected as speaker. Kevin McCarthy received 188 votes yesterday. There’s a group of us that really were vocal about it…. The rules need to be restored to where they were prior to Nancy Pelosi taking the gavel, so that each member of Congress truly is able to represent their district…. Unfortunately Congress has consolidated power within the speaker and the nine people who sit on the rules committee that the speaker selects…. The rest of us don’t have much voice.”
