In a big move, Rep. Jim Jordan, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has taken steps to investigate what many Americans perceive as politically motivated prosecutions by state and local officials, mainly focusing on the case involving former President Donald Trump.
Jordan’s scrutiny centers on the prosecution led by New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who has enlisted the services of Matthew Colangelo, a former senior official at the Department of Justice (DOJ), in the case against Trump. Jordan has raised questions about Colangelo’s past work and involvement in the Trump case, suggesting a possible agenda driven more by personal vendettas than the pursuit of justice.
Of particular concern to Jordan is Colangelo’s history of investigations into Trump during his tenure at the New York Attorney General’s Office and his subsequent role as a lead prosecutor in Bragg’s office. Jordan has highlighted instances where the federal government previously declined to prosecute similar matters, raising doubts about the necessity and fairness of Bragg’s case.
According to Mike Davis, there will be consequences for what is unfolding, and the WarRoom may take note that the storm clouds of that Criminal Conspiracy investigation may be forming:
Davis, who appeared on Tuesday’s evening WarRoom program, commented on Jordan’s recent actions and expressed enthusiasm for what he sees as a shift toward an offensive strategy. He highlighted Jordan’s targeting of Matthew Colangelo, a former senior official at the Department of Justice (DOJ) now involved in prosecuting former President Donald Trump.
In the conversation with Davis, host Steve Bannon acknowledges that while Jordan’s investigation may not encompass the broad conspiracy some feel is necessary, it is nonetheless a significant step forward in holding individuals accountable.
Davis emphasizes the importance of Jordan’s efforts to uncover internal documents within the DOJ, particularly regarding Colangelo’s transition to working with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office on what Davis calls a “zombie case” from 2017. He criticizes the transformation of this case into a high-stakes prosecution against a former president, alleging that it was timed to interfere with the 2024 presidential election.
A “zombie case” typically refers to a legal case thought to be resolved or inactive but is suddenly revived or brought back to life. In the context provided, it appears to describe a legal matter that was dormant or considered settled but has been resurrected or reactivated for prosecution or litigation. This term suggests that the case has returned to prominence or relevance despite initial expectations of its conclusion.
Davis connects these developments to broader concerns about the politicization of the justice system, implicating the Biden administration and its alleged involvement in facilitating these prosecutions. He warns of severe consequences, including potential criminal probes, under 18 USC 241 for civil rights violations.
Davis also expresses frustration with what he perceives as some House Republicans’ reluctance to take decisive action, labeling them “weak” and “wobbly.” He pledges to confront them directly to galvanize their support for Jordan’s efforts.

Another big takeaway, according to media sources, is that Jordan has pointed out the heavy reliance on the testimony of Michael Cohen, a convicted felon with a well-documented animus towards Trump, as a critical witness in Bragg’s prosecution. Cohen’s credibility has been scrutinized, especially given his past convictions and admissions of lying to Congress.
In a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday, Jorhas demanded documents and information related to Colangelo’s employment, communications between Colangelo and various offices, and details regarding Trump’s prosecution. Jordan stresses the importance of congressional oversight in ensuring the proper use of governmental resources and upholding the principles of justice and fairness.
The release of a 300-page report by Jordan’s committee last week, titled Judiciary Republicans Release Report on the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Political Vendetta Against President Donald J. Trump, further underscores the seriousness of the matter, signaling a comprehensive effort to uncover any potential abuses or irregularities in the legal process.
Jordan has gotten praise from Bannon’s WarRoom for making an essential first step.
