Bannon Calls for Strategic Shift: "No More European Handouts—America First”
Steve Bannon has laid out a stark warning for Americans on Saturday’s WarRoom program: the old ways of foreign entanglements and limitless spending are over. With President Donald J. Trump back in office in 2025, the focus is on economic revitalization, energy independence, and strategic defense—not endless war. Yet, figures like Senator Lindsey Graham seem intent on pulling Trump back into the globalist mess, pushing for further U.S. involvement in Ukraine and the Middle East.
America’s New Strategic Direction
Bannon emphasized that the next phase of Trump’s administration will be intense and transformative. "We need everybody there, fire of the football, get organized,” he said, urging supporters to stay engaged. Central to this shift is a supply-side tax cut, smart reductions in federal spending, and an aggressive move to eliminate government waste, fraud, and abuse.
"President Trump’s energy policy and supply-side tax cuts are the foundation,” Bannon stated. "On top of that—big, smart cuts in federal spending.” He warned against those who seek to drag Trump into the same old game of foreign intervention, pointing directly at Graham.
No More Blank Checks for Europe and NATO
One of Bannon’s most forceful points was the need to end U.S. underwriting of European security. "European elites gotta step up and talk to their people,” he declared. "If you got a primal fear of Russia, then step up. President Trump told you—five percent. You’re not going to do it? We’ve been bailing you out for over a hundred years, and that day is over.”
Bannon’s position is clear: NATO and Western Europe must take responsibility for their own defense. He drew a distinction between being an ally and being an underwriter. "We’re not breaking the alliance, but we’re not underwriting it anymore. That’s why NATO and Western Europe have been a protectorate of the United States.”
As for Ukraine, Bannon dismissed the idea of continued American involvement, taking direct aim at Graham, who he claims is still clinging to outdated interventionist policies. "Lindsey Graham’s over there hugging on Zelensky like he’s the greatest partner he’s ever had. We’re not doing this anymore. We’re not going to do it.”
The Smart Way Forward: Strategic Defense Without Bankruptcy
Bannon laid out a smarter way to engage on the world stage—through economic leverage rather than military entanglement. "We start using unrestricted warfare, our capital base, our technology—holding it back from people,” he explained. "We can get there and not put ourselves into bankruptcy.”
The real national security threat, he argued, isn’t coming from Russia or China alone—it’s from out-of-control federal spending. "The biggest national security threat is this freaking spending that’s out of control. These gutless people up here don’t want to go back and tell anybody.”
Fixing the Economic Distress at Home
A major part of Bannon’s plan involves tackling the economic dysfunction that has left millions of working-age men out of the workforce. "This isn’t about jobs—we got the jobs. But 18 to 20 million men in this country of working age are not in the workforce,” he warned. "The elites gutted our country, and now they want the taxpayer to deal with it.”
The solution, according to Bannon, is getting these men reengaged in the workforce and cutting unnecessary government dependency programs. "You do that, you’re not going to need Medicaid,” he said, pointing out how economic distress has been used to justify bloated welfare programs.
A Geostrategic Realignment—No More Middle East Quagmires
Bannon strongly backed Trump’s strategy of reorienting U.S. defense priorities. "We’re not getting dragged into another land war in Persia,” he declared. "We’re not going to do it. No airstrikes in Persia, we’re not doing that. There are smarter ways.”
He referenced Trump’s direct diplomatic efforts with Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting the President’s push to get European nations to take responsibility for their own security. "Trump couldn’t be clearer—he’s having direct conversations with Putin,” Bannon said. "He’s saying, ‘We’re out. We’re tired of shoveling money over there.’”
A Warning to President Trump: Don’t Get Sucked In
Bannon ended with a strong warning to Trump and his administration: resist the pressure from establishment figures like Lindsey Graham who want to continue the failed policies of the past. "They’re trying to suck you into it,” he cautioned. "If you get sucked in, you’re gonna be sucked in year after year after year.”
Instead, Bannon called for European leaders like Macron and Scholz to step up and finance their own security. "Macron, Meloni, whoever’s running Germany—throw in the Brits—let them put up their own money. How about three combat divisions? We’re out. And we gotta be adamant about it.”
A New Era for America First
Bannon’s message is clear: America must pivot away from its role as the world’s financial and military crutch. The Trump administration is laying the groundwork for a fundamental shift in U.S. policy—one that prioritizes economic growth, energy independence, and strategic defense without endless foreign entanglements.
"We got bigger fish to fry,” Bannon concluded. "The opportunity cost is too high. The American people will understand—if you explain it to them and they don’t think they’re getting screwed.”
