Mark Mitchell appeared on Wednesday’s WarRoom and discussed recent polling data indicating a significant shift towards Trump in critical battleground states. With Harris’s campaign facing challenges, Mitchell critiques media narratives and predicts a tight race.
Trump’s Rising Numbers in Battleground States
Mitchell unveiled fresh polling results from pivotal battleground states, highlighting a positive trend for Donald Trump. “We have data from four swing state polls out now this week, with two more coming,” he announced, citing Trump’s approval ratings.
The data reveals Trump leading by three points in Pennsylvania and five points in North Carolina. Additionally, in Michigan, polling shows a tie, while Trump leads in Wisconsin by two points. These results represent a notable shift to the right compared to earlier polls in September. “These are definitely better results for Trump,” Mitchell emphasized.
Media Narratives and Kamala Harris
Mitchell also criticized the media narratives surrounding Kamala Harris, comparing attempts to engage with her to “walking into some dark church service and trying to argue with the pastor.” He highlighted that Harris’s debate performance was scripted and rehearsed. “She can’t think for herself,” he stated, arguing that her scripted responses in interviews reveal her limitations.
Mitchell noted that while Harris performed well in the debate, she struggled to maintain that momentum afterward. “We learned as soon as she got out of the interviews that she was reading from the same scripts,” he said, suggesting that this indicates a lack of authenticity.
Polling Accuracy: A Double-Edged Sword
The conversation shifted to polling accuracy, with Mitchell expressing skepticism about traditional polling methods. “I don’t think we’re out of step with the rest of the herd,” he explained. He believes that while some polls may be flawed, they are becoming more accurate than in previous cycles.
Mitchell pointed to a recent NBC poll showing Harris up by only 0.3 points in Wisconsin. He noted, “The real clear politics with the 538 aggregate shows these numbers are tightening.” He emphasized the importance of scrutinizing these polls, as they often reflect a leftward bias that can mislead voters.
Desperation Tactics from the Harris Campaign
As the election approaches, Mitchell believes the Harris campaign is resorting to desperation tactics. He observed, “The thrust of the Harris campaign is to go after Donald Trump’s mental state.” However, he views this strategy as ineffective, especially since recent polls show a significant decline in Harris’s support among independent voters.
Mitchell noted that "60 to 70 percent of people said they saw Joe Biden’s apparent mental decline and wanted him to take a cognitive test.” He argued that Harris’s attempts to court Black voters are falling flat, as polling indicates Trump is making gains with this demographic. “The writing has been on the wall for months,” he remarked.
A Tight Race Ahead
As the election draws near, the polling landscape suggests a competitive race. Mitchell’s analysis reveals that while Trump is gaining traction in key states, the Harris campaign faces challenges in overcoming negative perceptions. With independent voters shifting toward Trump, the upcoming weeks will be crucial for both campaigns.
