SITREP The GOP Redistricting Revolution: Inside the GOP’s Push to Rebalance Power

President Trump is backing a full-blown political blitz to reshape the American map—literally. With the 2025 mid-decade census, redistricting battles heating up in key states like Texas and Florida, and a looming Supreme Court showdown over race-based voting districts, Steve Bannon and top GOP strategist Alex DeGrasse say this is the "whole ballgame.” If successful, they believe the Democrats could lose up to 42 seats—permanently altering the balance of power in Congress.

The result could be a seismic shift: 42 seats flipped, cutting deep into Democrat urban cores and redistributing political power toward rural and suburban conservative voters.

QUICK CLIP:

ALEX DEGRASSE: Redistricting, census reform, and SCOTUS rulings are colliding.

All three hit the Dems where it hurts most: map control.

In Thursday’s wide-ranging and intense conversation, Bannon and DeGrasse laid out what they’re calling the most consequential political project of this era: use the mid-decade census, smart redistricting, and a Supreme Court ruling to obliterate the Democrat stronghold on Congress.

The stakes? Everything.

At the center of this is the 2025 mid-decade census, a rare but critical chance to correct what Bannon calls "a generational failure” in the Trump administration’s first term: the decision not to exclude illegal immigrants from the population count used to determine House seats and federal funding.

"We blinked in 2018,” Bannon said bluntly. "President Trump’s not going to make that mistake again.”

DeGrasse doubled down, saying counting illegal immigrants has handed massive political and economic power to Democrat-run cities. "New York, L.A.—they’re padded with millions of illegals. That’s billions in misallocated funding and House seats,” he explained. "And those illegals? They don’t vote, so it’s inflating representation without the consent of voters. That’s unconstitutional.”

That’s the legal angle now sitting before the Supreme Court, which is reviewing whether race-based districts violate the 14th and 15th Amendments. If the justices rule in favor of ending these carve-outs, Bannon and DeGrasse argue, the Democrats’ map collapses.

"The left says ‘it doesn’t explicitly say citizens,’ but the Founders were crystal clear,” DeGrasse said. "Representation is supposed to reflect citizens, not bodies.”

"This is how we finally stop the Marxist left in its tracks,” Bannon said. "This is not theoretical. This is happening right now.”

DeGrasse warned the fight isn’t just legal—it’s tactical. He emphasized that states like Texas, Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, and even California are now actively exploring redistricting options, with Florida expected to add up to five new GOP-leaning seats.

He also noted a big opportunity in New York State, where, he argued, legal citizens in Upstate New York are being drowned out by mass migration into New York City. "Once illegals aren’t counted, the power shifts back to where it belongs—with American citizens,” he said.

But the left is already in meltdown mode. DeGrasse expects legal challenges, political attacks, and media smears. Still, he insists the strategy is sound, legal, and rooted in constitutional principles.

"This is how you legally and systematically take apart the modern Democrat Party,” Bannon concluded. "They’ve gerrymandered themselves into oblivion. All we’re doing is fixing the map—and it just so happens, that ends their game.”

The bottom line for the War Room crowd: get engaged now. DeGrasse pointed out that this is a ground war, not just court battles. State legislatures matter, local action matters, and citizen pressure—especially in GOP-led states—will determine whether this opportunity is seized or squandered.

"You want to save the country?” Bannon said. "Start with the maps. This is how we win.”
