The establishment foreign policy community will soon gather at Center for American Progress (CAP)’s upcoming conference, ‘Progressive National Security: The First 100 Days.’
The conference aims “to develop an actionable, off-the-shelf 100-day plan outlining the executive actions, diplomatic priorities, and policy implementation activities that will be critical to advancing a progressive national security and foreign policy agenda in 2021.”
CAP is the epicenter of the foreign policy establishment, the cadre of unelected bureaucrats who instigated impeachment because President Trump’s abandoned their globalist world view for his America First agenda.
Founded by John Podesta, chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and a mainstay in the Democratic establishment, CAP wielded massive influence in the Obama White House.
According to TIME:
“Not since the Heritage Foundation helped guide Ronald Reagan’s transition in 1981 has a single outside group held so much sway. Just as candidate Obama depended on CAP during the campaign for opposition research and talking points, President-elect Obama has effectively contracted out the management of his own government’s formation to Podesta.”
It’s no surprise the conference headliners include Obama’s Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power; Obama’s National Security Advisor Susan Rice; Obama’s 2nd term Chief of Staff Denis McDonough; Obama’s Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michèle Flournoy; Obama’s Deputy CIA Director Avril Haines, and Obama’s Director of Policy Planning Jake Sullivan.
It’s evident there was a revolving door between CAP and the Obama White House, and this conference makes it clear CAP is hoping to reassert their influence if a Democrat wins the presidency in 2020.
The conference features panels such as “The China Challenge,” “A Progressive Vision for Human Rights,” and “Climate Security” with Ambassador Power delivering the keynote on the “Power of Progressive National Security.”
This conference is the foreign policy community in the flesh, which War Room: Impeachment often talks about, convening and conspiring a “progressive” national security agenda they never anticipated President Trump would upend.
