On Episode 17 of War Room: Impeachment, host Stephen K. Bannon and guest Jenny Beth Martin, founder of Tea Party Patriots, discuss the media’s spin on Marie Yovanovitch’s testimony.
Bannon remarks: “I think I saw an angle of attack on Morning Joe about yesterday’s transcript about the ambassador where she said she felt threatened by President Trump, and she feels threatened today. And Mika teared up and got all choked up.”
He expands upon on the ramifications of this strategy for 2020: “It’s once again to try to get President Trump’s numbers down in these suburban districts among suburban moms. It took a new perspective of what that testimony was. The mainstream media has been pushing that threat overnight.”
Co-host Raheem Kassam notes how this narrative encompasses other witnesses as well: “Yesterday we saw the transcript from the deposition of Marie Yovanovich and former State Department Advisor Michael McKinley. This is meant to set up Yovanovitch as some sort of helpless women who is just doing her job, loves her country, and is ruthlessly and needlessly attacked by people. She had to say watch my back and it was dangerous, this parallel track that they all claim is going on behind the scenes.”
Bannon asks Martin if “in the suburbs of Atlanta, is that going to play?”
She responds: “It may play for a little while until we actually hear from people who are defending President Trump and remind Americans that Trump was her boss.”
Eventually, Americans will see her as “a disgruntled employee with an axe to grind and a chip on her shoulder.”
Kassam adds: “They didn’t vote for these people, they voted for Trump. The voters actively voted against the career political class, against the establishment, against the way foreign policy has been done in the US for the last 30-40 years.”
