Rep. Mark Meadows joined Stephen K. Bannon and Raheem Kassam on Episode 96 of War Room: Impeachment to discuss the upcoming Senate trial and Meadows’s potential spot on the defense team.
“Lee Zeldin, Jim Jordan, Mark Meadows, Matt Gaetz: the four horsemen of the apocalypse,” Bannon began.
He turned to Meadows: “You guys know the material. I mean Raheem [Kassam] knows it because he’s gone through seven thousand pages with the guys in War Room. But my point is not many [people, even on] the conservative media side, have done that. You have a better feel for it. But how many guys in the House [have read it all]? I had another Congressman [say] ‘the four guys you just mentioned and a couple others maybe.’ You know the material, why are you not going to be part of the team?”
“Well, that’s still out there,” Meadows said of the defense team lineup. “Possibly that happens.”
“And you’re not a lawyer,” Bannon added, “but you know how to question.”
Going back to how many House members have read the testimony, Meadows explained: “Raheem has actually read more of it than at least 430 members of Congress. I think there’s only five members of Congress that have gone through all the testimony.
Given the Congressman’s answer, Bannon asked: “Don’t you think that’s imperative to have you as part of the team?”
“It’s imperative that at least you have that kind of knowledge there,” Meadows responded. “What happens when the lawyers go to make a point is you can say: Adam Schiff’s saying this, that is not correct, if you go to this person’s testimony page six.”
