George Kent, the radical bureaucrat testifying on Capitol Hill today unintentionally provided Republicans with a robust line of defense during his opening statement before the House Intelligence Committee.

This clip will likely form the basis of a Republican push back against the “quid pro quo” narrative.

George Kent admits here that “there are and always have been conditionality placed on our sovereign loan guarantees for Ukraine. Conditions include anti-corruption reforms, as well as meeting larger stability goals and social safety nets.”

 

By Kent’s standards therefore, President Trump did not deviate with established norms of American foreign policy.
