One of today’s witnesses, David Holmes, previously testified that he overheard a phone call between President Trump and Ambassador Gordon Sondland which he alleges President Trump conditioned opening an investigation into the Bidens to the release of military aid for Ukraine, earning him the “eavesdropper” moniker from War Room: Impeachment.
This morning, President Trump tweeted:
I have been watching people making phone calls my entire life. My hearing is, and has been, great. Never have I been watching a person making a call, which was not on speakerphone, and been able to hear or understand a conversation. I’ve even tried, but to no avail. Try it live!

CNN’s Chris Cuomo follows President Trump’s suggestion to “Try it live!” However, Cuomo’s attempt to discredit President Trump and vindicate Holmes’s theory immediately backfires. It’s also painfully awkward.
CNN’s Cuomo trying to prove you can hear a conversation on another person’s cell phone (while on speaker, mind you) is the most ill-advised thing we’ve witnessed on live TV since Marcia Clark had OJ try the gloves on. Check with this video out: https://t.co/EK3GYVtnce

Audio difficulties force Cuomo to ask: “Can you just say hello? Mom? She probably can’t hear me. Mom, can you hear me? Mom? Say hello to Dana Bash.”
During the exchange, co-host Dana Bash can barely hear Cuomo’s mother.
Once again, President Trump is vindicated.
