“We knew that if I was going to beat him, I had to do it on the ground, and so literally the day after the [primary] election, I just started quietly moving and organizing our grassroots infrastructure. By the end of the election on Nov. 8, we had knocked over 50,000 doors and made 89,000 phone calls… That was me going out with my team twice a day.”
