The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration’s plan to cease the Trump-era “remain in Mexico” policy, but Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies says the practical effect will be negligible since Biden would just go around the law anyway.
“From a practical matter, the administration since it was required to keep “remain inMexico” has only put about 7,000 people back on the other side… That’s only about one day’s worth of apprehensions at the border, so I don’t think that it was creating any kind of deterrent effect since Biden … had to keep doing it in December.”
