Joe Allen reports on the transhumanist conference being held in Madrid last week, and notes that no matter how much the movement wants to avoid being tagged as a religion, they have all the hallmarks.
“It’s certain that transhumanists hold technology up as the highest power. They by and large believe that technology will confer some form of approximate immortality. They by and large believe that virtual reality will represent a new heaven on earth, and most importantly … they believe that there is no god but the future computer god that will arrive upon the singularity.”
