This segment begins with Todd Bensman of Center fro Immigration Studies reporting from the Acuna, Mexico, side of the border across from Del Rio, Texas, showing that Haitian refugees are heading in both directions. Todd’s interview with host Stephen K. Bannon reveals why:
“The thing I guess I would emphasize is that these deportation flights back to Port-au-Prince, which started happening on Sunday, have had a very acute impact on the psyches and decision-making of the Haitians who have been crossing to join this camp. I was in the Acuna bus station just yesterday evening and found dozens and dozens of Haitians there boarding buses back to southern Mexico, back to Guatemala, reversing their journeys here, on the grounds that the last thing in the world that they want is to wind up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti… What this shows really is that this kind of deportation threat is a very powerful threat. Trump used it all the time.”
