Citizen Free Press founder and publisher Kane joined War Room on the fourth anniversary of his news aggregation website, and credited his readers for the site’s monster success.
“Four years ago today a very important thing happened,” said Stephen K. Bannon. “The beginning of Citizen Free Press.”
Kane hasn’t taken a day off in four years, and it’s paid off. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says he goes to Citizen Free Press first for his news.
“The idea that just some guy in Bloomington, Indiana is going to sit down at a desk and say I can get to 10 percent of Drudge’s traffic, I can do it, why not?” Kane said. “So let’s just start typing out headlines.”
Bannon said Kane proves the power of one man’s personal agency and hard work, while Kane credited the loyal readers for his success. Citizen Free Press had a rolling average of 77 million views last month.
“It’s the readers,” he said. “They’re the ones who are really really making the difference.”
Kane said his daily open thread is critical to what he puts up on the stack, and sifts through hundreds of headlines sent to him daily.
“Don’t feel bad for me with no days off,†Kane said. “I’ve played golf a few times.â€
